Codford Local History Society
The Codford Local History Society was formed in 2003. Its aim is to encourage the study of local history and maintain an archive of local historical interest.
Membership is open to all and we have a number of members from outlying villages.
Subscription is a modest £10 a year and we welcome non members to any of our activities. Currently membership stands at 48.
Chairman: Sir Willie Mahon
Secretary: Alec Thomson
Treasurer: Duncan Pierce
Archivist: Sally Thomson
The pattern of our activities is to have 6 talks in the winter season, usually on a Tuesday evening, in Codford Village Hall and 2 visits in the summer. Recent examples have been talks on local place names, the Wansdyke and non conformist chapels. This summer we visited the Cerne Abbas Giant and walked a piece of the Wansdyke.
Our programme of upcoming talks is available within the diary of events page.
