Winter Warmer: Emma Howe
The first of this season's Winter Warmers took place on 12th October in the Broadleaze Bar. The doors opened at 12 noon and by a quarter past 55 people were sitting down to a deliciously simple lunch of soup and bread. There were so many different varieties to choose from and many people tried several! There were some lovely cakes and home-baked goodies and a nice cuppa to finish up with too.
The Codford Fete Committee run the Winter Warmers to provide a hot meal and a warm place to sit and chat during the winter months. It's free to attend and you can make a donation to the chosen charity if you can. This month the charity was The Osborne Trust, although based in Wales, they provide country wide practical and emotional support to children whose parents have cancer. With a kind donation from a family who couldn't attend the Winter Warmer and a silent auction for a very cute wooden snowman, along with the generosity of those present over £300 was raised for this very worthwhile charity.
There will be 4 or 5 more Warmers over the winter, so we hope to see you there. If you'd like to suggest a charity to support or you can make a soup or sweet treat for the next event it's on Saturday 16 November 12-2pm. Come early to make sure you get some soup.
